The Power Of Color
Do you dream in black and white or in color? If you dream in color, do your remember your first technicolor dream? If you were to be offered a choice between dressing in the right style or dressing in the right color, which would you choose? Style does have greater importance. But you must understand the symbiotic effect of using the best style and the best color. Each contributes to your good image, but together, they more than double the benefits.
Colors are often divided into different groups as a means of studying their characteristics. One of the most common ways to separate colors by their basetones. Each color has a blue base or a gold base. Picture the difference between a blue-red and an orange-red or a blue-green and a yellow-green. Since the development of the seasonal color system, it is common to see colors grouped into four separate palettes corresponding to the four seasons of the year. The colors are, however, still related with respect to basetone.
The winter colors are blue-based; they ar bright, clear, vivid, deep, and often described as jewel-like. (Some light, clear icy colors are often included. When used with the deep colors the icy colors increase the depth and contrast of the Winter hues.) The Summer colors are also blue-based, but they are the soft, blended, muted shades often referred to as pastels.
The Autumn colors are gold-based, and are deep, rich, and muted. They are often described as earthy. The Spring colors are also gold-based, but are light, clear, delicate, and considered bright.
The Summer and Autumn colors are also related in more sublte way, as are the Winter and Spring colors. Winter and Spring are bright and clear, Summer and Autumn are softly muted.
As you work toward finding the clothing styles for you, you must look at these same characteristics as they apply to your coloring. Summer and Winter Clothes.
