Men Neckties

The proper width of a tie, and one that will never be out of style, is 3 1/4 inches. A long as the proportions of men’s clothing remain true to man’s body shape, this width will set the proper balance. Though many of the neckties sold today cut in these widths, the section of the tie where the knot is made has remained thick —a holdover from the fat, napkinlike tes of the 1960s. This makes tying a small, elegant knot more difficult.
All fine ties are cut on the bias, which means they have bee cut actiss tge fabruc, This allows them to fall straight after the knot has been tied, without curling. A simple test consists of holding a tie across your hand. If it begins to twirl in the air, it was probably not cut on the bias and it should not be purchased.
Quality neckties want you to see everything: they have nothing to hide. Originally, neckties were cut from a single large square of silk, which was then folded seven times in order to give the tie a rich fullness. Today the price of silk and lack of skilled artisans prohibits this form of manufacture. Ties now derive their body and fullness by means of an additional inner lining.

There are many who believe that a hat is an integral part of a man’s wardrobe. While this may be true, it must be added that in this day and age it is no easy matter to wear a hat and look unaffected. Nevertheless, a hat does add immeasurably to a well-dressed look by the style a man choose and the angle at which he sets it upon his head, both of which provide a reliable clue to his mood and personality.
Those who choose to wear a hat should be careful in making their selections. Not all hats look appropriate on every individual. To begin with, the height of the crown and the width of the brim ought to be in correct proportion to the size and shape of a man’s head and face. A man with a narrow face ought to wear a hatwith a narrower brim; otherwise, the heavy shadowing of the hat will make his face appear thinner. Conversely, a man with a rounder, wider face, or with facial hair, ought to wear a hat with a wider brim, lest he risk looking like Oliver Hardy.
A good rule to follow when choosing the proper-fitting hat is that its height should be the same as the distance from the middle of the forehead to the top of the crown as the distance from the chin to the middle of the forehead. There is an exception to this, however. Since a hat with a slightly higher crown while eschewing those with a shorter crown.
